A little over a month ago, WordPress and one of its plugins was hacked causing thousands of websites to be compromised, including mine. Unfortunately, one of my websites was completely lost in the hack. This has been a huge wake up call for me to make all of my websites, blogs, emails, and most importantly hosting more secure.
Over the past several weeks, I have been researching web hosting sites to try find the best fit for me that is both secure and affordable. I am now in the process of transferring everything over to them from my previous host. This will take time. I am also looking at new WordPress templates, as I think that might have had something to do with the hack.
I wanted to give a little update on why there was such an abrupt stop to the A-Z Challenge that so many enjoyed. I will complete the challenge once I get everything back up and running in a few weeks. I am also still working on my 50-Year Temperature “Blanket”, which is now turning into something a little different. I will also share the details on that in a few weeks.
If anything positive can come of this mess it is this bit of advice, back up everything you have on your website. If I had it to do over again, I would have taken screen snaps of my website pages (main page, about, contact, etc.), blog posts, etc. That way I could recreate everything. Instead, over ten years of content has been completely wiped clean!
