This Friday is Friday the 13th, which obviously makes me think of the movie, Friday the 13th and Camp Crystal Lake. I actually grew up several miles from an actual Crystal Lake. I never thought about it when I was a kid, since I had not seen the movie, but when I got older I seriously never wanted to go there. It didn’t help that they had water moccasins in the lake, which totally freaked me out. I’ve been watching a lot of horror movie YouTube reactions videos lately. Those are so fun to watch, especially the younger generations watching Gen X movies. It is fun to see their reactions to the movies that I grew up with. Two channels that I have been enjoying are Alanda Parker and Ashleigh Burton. They both watched Friday the 13th and both had enjoyable reactions.

This is the time of the year when I start to think about fall/Halloween crafts. I’ve started putting together a list of things I’d like to work on for this Halloween. Over the past couple of weeks, I have picked up a few Halloween cross stitch patterns that I’m excited to get started, especially a cobra ornament and a new Prairie Schooler pattern. As soon as I saw the cobra ornament pattern at Stitched Modern, I knew I had to get it. Last year, a person in Raleigh had a pet cobra escape from its enclosure. It roamed around a Raleigh neighborhood for only a day before being caught, but it still freaked out everyone. It wasn’t far from where I work, so we were all afraid it might slither its way through our door or mate with the local copperheads. Thank goodness neither of those things happened. It did become the talk of the town for 24 hours. Every time I see the ornament it will remind me of the Raleigh cobra. I also picked up a really cute girl and kitty embroidery pattern. I added another needle minder to my stash too. I like to have one for every WIP I have, and I have quite a few going in 2022.

I’m trying to expand my Prairie Schooler pattern library, so I had to pick up a couple more cross stitch patterns from Homespun Samplar on Etsy. I especially love the Pumpkin Patch pattern, because I can leave it displayed throughout the entire fall season not just for Halloween. I picked up my first Christmas Prairie Schooler pattern. It is super cute and can also be displayed all winter. I just love their designs. They have a very retro and vintage look. I also got a fall pattern with a girl and her black cat. It was too cute to pass up. The black cat threadkeep was a last minute add on, but I just had to have it. It is super cute and reminds me of my little girl, Drusilla, who I lost to kidney failure in 2017. I miss her every day.
