I am a very creative person. I am always working on some kind of creative project, whether it is a craft project or some sort of writing project. I usually have several WIPs (works in progress) of both going on at the same time. Now that we are nearing the halfway mark of 2022, I have taken a look at what projects I want to work on for the rest of the year. As for my craft projects, I am focusing on cross-stitch, felt sewing, and crochet. Cross-Stitching: On my list is Lemon Cat by Barbara Ana Designs, Snake Ornament kit, two Prairie Schooler patterns, and a Halloween stitch-a-long pattern I’ll be starting next week. Felt Stitching: I need to make Violet a Christmas stocking, and I’m thinking of a few quick and easy Halloween projects. Crocheting: Since we only have a little over 6 months left of the year, which is really hard to believe, I am only choosing a handful of crochet projects for the rest of the year. I’m focusing on fall/Halloween with some small pumpkins and a pumpkin throw. On my list is also a wall hanging and a patchwork blanket for my bed. My last crochet project was a gnome for my sister for Christmas in 2021. Yep! It has been that long since I’ve completed a crocheted project. I used the Christmas Gnomes pattern by Hannah Ross. It turned out super cute but pretty big. So, will I finish all of these projects? That is the million-dollar question.

I also want to focus the next 6 months on my writing. Ever since college, I have been writing fiction stories. I started my first one when I was studying English at the University of Florida. I am now working on my first mystery novel about a rock star who has to solve the mystery of her bandmates’ deaths. I started this story back in 2015, as book 1 in a four-book series. It just never worked. I think because I had so much pressure trying to map out all four books. I have now changed it to a stand-alone book, with an option to make it into a series if I choose. I have also rewritten the story, a lot of the scenes, and all of the characters, except for the protagonist and antagonist. It has really given the story new life. I am excited to get back to writing it next month for JuNoWriMo. If you don’t know what JuNoWriMo is, it is a writing challenge similar to NaNoWriMo where you pledge to write a 50,000 novel throughout the month of June. I’ve attempted NaNoWriMo in the past and won, so I am determined to win JuNoWriMo too. I’ll be posting updates about my progress throughout the month of June. If you would like to follow along with my journey via my website or Instagram, I write under Elissa Kane // elissakwrites.
