Today is letter M of the Blogging From A-Z Challenge and my theme, Atlantic Hurricanes. You can read more about my theme, here, and if you are a crafter, you can check out the blanket that I am crocheting that coincides with this challenge, here.
I’ve lived my entire life in the South, so I’ve been through my fair share of tropical depressions, tropical storms, and hurricanes. For this challenge, I’m looking back on the storms that have impacted my life and some of the bigger more unforgettable storms.
I vividly remember Hurricane Michael but thankfully, not as a Category 5 hurricane but as an extratropical storm. Unfortunately, the downgraded status didn’t damage my house any less.
If I remember correctly, we had gotten quite a bit of rain weeks before Hurricane Michael hit the state, so the ground was already saturated. When Michael hit, it brought a ton of rain and gusty winds to Central North Carolina, toppling trees and power lines. One of the trees in my backyard fell on my house, and my roof leaked thanks to Michael. That was the most damage my house has endured from any storm, thus far, while living in North Carolina. Thanks, Hurricane Michael!
