I was doing a little internet searching over the weekend and realized that National Doughnut day is this Friday. I might have to head to Dunkin Donuts for a chocolate glazed doughnut to celebrate. Some day I want to try one of those really big doughnuts with fun toppings, like potato chips or Fruit Loops. I LOVE doughnuts. Can you tell? But they are so bad for you. I read somewhere that doughnuts have absolutely zero nutritional value. They are nothing but sugar, starch, and fat. Why are all of the things that taste so good so bad for you? Like macaroni and cheese. But I digress . . . I still think one doughnut a year is okay. Right? Speaking of doughnuts, over the years I made a bunch of felt play food doughnuts. They were always a hit in my now defunct Etsy shop. Here are a few pics of some of my favorites. You can find some more in my project gallery.

While I was looking up National Doughnut Day, I came across many more fun and quirky holidays throughout the month of June. I thought it would be fun to put together a list to reference for craft projects. I hadn’t heard of most of the holidays, but I did know that June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month! Funny that none of my girls were adopted in June. This list would be helpful when thinking of crafts or presents for birthdays or just for fun. I especially like National Cheese Day. That is pretty much every day in my house. I’m working on lists like this for the rest of the year. It might be fun to have them ready to look ahead at some holidays coming up in the fall and winter. Stay tuned for those.
On Sunday, I will also be starting a new stitch-a-long with dotdotgoosedesign. It is featuring the Teresa Kogut Whimsy Halloween pattern, which is so fun. I ordered a matching project pouch and pal from dotdotgoosedesign with a similar fabric called Hocus Pocus. I requested a black kitty on the front of the pouch if it was possible, to remind me of my black kitty Drusilla who passed away from kidney failure in 2017. Not only did I get two kitties on the pouch, but I also got a black kitty front and center on the pal. So very sweet!

Aren’t they super cute? And they are really well made. I’m already ready for the fall and Halloween! I would definitely recommend picking up a cross-stitch pouch or two from her if you need somewhere to store your project supplies. This is my second and it really comes in handy with keeping everything together. And everything fits so neatly in the pouch. I really love these. As for what I’m watching, I have already binge-watched all of the season 4 episodes of Stranger Things, so I am now watching the final season of Grace and Frankie. I love Lily Tomlin. She is fantastic! You know, Violet was named after one of my favorite Lily Tomlin characters. Can you guess which one?
