I’ve lived my entire life in the South, so I’ve been through my fair share of tropical depressions, tropical storms, and hurricanes. For this challenge, I’m looking back on the storms that have impacted my life and some of the bigger more unforgettable storms.
Hurricane Ian is one of the more recent hurricanes to make the list that hit the Tampa Bay, Florida area. I still have family and friends living in Florida, so anytime there is a storm heading toward Florida, I pay attention to it. My friend who lives in Tampa said the storm was making a beeline right for Tampa Bay until it jogged a bit to the south before landfall. I think, if I remember correctly, this is also the storm where the water receded from Tampa Bay like the water does before a tsunami hits. It was a pretty scary sight.
We also felt Ian in North Carolina, although he was a much weaker storm by then. We lost power for a few hours and got quite a bit of rain but nothing more than that. We dodged a bullet with this storm.

Very interesting! I’ll have to go through all your posts to see which one I remember. Living in Chicago, these things are largely a “known from the news,” not your “lived through them” knowledge.
