Today is letter B of the Blogging From A-Z Challenge and my theme, Atlantic Hurricanes. You can read more about my theme, here, and if you are a crafter, you can check out the blanket that I am crocheting that coincides with this challenge, here.
I’ve lived my entire life in the South, so I’ve been through my fair share of tropical depressions, tropical storms, and hurricanes. For this challenge, I’m looking back on the storms that have impacted my life and some of the bigger more unforgettable storms.
I don’t remember much about Hurricane Bob other than it was a hurricane named after my dad. I know there have been several Hurricane Bobs, but this one was from 1985 and skirted South Florida and then made its way up the Florida coast and into the Southeastern US. One interesting fact about this storm is it dropped over 21 inches in Everglades City, Florida. It is crazy how different each hurricane is. Yesterday’s storm, Hurricane Andrew, barely had any rain yet had massive wind. Hurricane Bob barely had any wind yet had 21+ inches of rain.

I, too, lived a large part of my life in the South, and hurricanes can leave a lot of destruction, though some are almost whispers of nothing in comparison. I also have a friend who lived much of her life in Florida and became expert at dealing with the yearly hurricane season.
