Today is letter L of the Blogging From A-Z Challenge and my theme, Atlantic Hurricanes. You can read more about my theme, here, and if you are a crafter, you can check out the blanket that I am crocheting that coincides with this challenge, here.
I’ve lived my entire life in the South, so I’ve been through my fair share of tropical depressions, tropical storms, and hurricanes. For this challenge, I’m looking back on the storms that have impacted my life and some of the bigger more unforgettable storms.
I read some very interesting facts about Hurricane Lili, especially its impact on the United Kingdom. Lili brought 90+ mph winds to the area, 40-foot waves to the North Sea, a 4-foot storm tide to the River Thames, and 3 inches of rain to the drought-ridden area. It also caused over $300 million of damage, making it the costliest storm in the United Kingdom since the Great Storm of 1987.

Oh, this is fascinating! I’ve lived in Florida my whole life, so I’m acquainted with hurricanes. So much so that I wrote a book about one. I never hear about hurricanes that impact the UK, though. Thanks for this!
